Did you know that the SAT & ACT focus on reasoning rather than achievement? It's true! The test will contain simple questions that are asked in a much more difficult manner. For example, "What is the definition of an integer?" would be distorted into "What is the least non-negative even integer?" Don't worry. You will learn tips and tricks to overcome your fears and achieve your goals!
Penrose Tutoring and Learning LLC believes that one-on-one sessions are most effective because we highly customize our tutoring to address each student's needs as best as we possibly can. A long term commitment to a schedule for studying will contribute to increased confidence and success on the test.
Recommendations for ACT/SAT
Freshman year: Consultation
We recommend meeting with us for a few sessions to set the stage for the proper academic focus and do's and dont's for success when beginning your testing marathon during your sophomore year.
Sophomore year: PSAT
For high school students that will take the SAT & ACT, we suggest that you begin preparing for these tests during your sophomore year. This test parallels the SAT. It assesses math, reading, and writing skills. The scores from the PSAT are used to determine eligibility and qualification for the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Junior Year: SAT/ACT
Plan to take each test twice. The College Board will keep the highest score from each section unless you get a perfect score the first time.
