Dungeons & Dragons

Dungeons and Dragons (a.k.a D&D) is a collaborative, fantasy tabletop role playing game (TTRPG) in which participants develop characters and construct a story which takes them on journey full of action and adventure. At its core, D&D is about storytelling, and participants are able to let their imaginations take flight!

Studies have shown that many students learn best through play.

Playing Dungeons & Dragons helps develop important social-emotional learning skills through roleplay. For example:
  • Self-awareness: recognizing one's emotions & values as well as strengths and challenges
  • Self-management: managing emotions and behaviors to achieve one's goals
  • Interpersonal skills: forming positive relationships, working within a groups setting, & effectively dealing with conflict
  • Responsible decision making: making ethical and constructive choices about personal & social behavior
  • Social awareness: showing understanding and sympathy for others
  • Empathy

It will also reinforce academic skills, such as:
  • Reading/reading comprehension
  • Basic math
  • Character development
  • Learn story structure
  • Information retention

Playing D&D also helps develop skills that are beneficial throughout your life, such as:
  • Communication
  • Collaboration
  • Critical Thinking
  • Creativity
  • Decision making
  • Problem solving

AND it's a lot of fun!

My name is Joe, and I look forward to creating a community and world together. My enthusiasm for storytelling and world building was sparked by my father, who introduced me to early broadcast radio shows like The Shadow.

I became intrigued with table-top games, Dungeons and Dragons in particular, while watching my older brother play. I instantly lost interest in the concept of math for fun (I was five years old, after all).

For over a decade, I have played and have regularly been a game-master on several digital platforms for the past six years. My hope is to guide new players into experiences that grow their critical thinking, ethical compass, and creative agency!
