I have never used a tutor. How does tutoring typically work?A typical tutoring session lasts 1 hour. Each lesson is planned in segments to keep the pace moving and avoid any lags. In addition, games are often used during the final segment of a session to reinforce skills covered during the lesson.
How long is each session?
Sessions are typically one hour but can be tailored to the student's needs by considering their age, schedule of extracurricular activities, etc.
Where do sessions take place?
Sessions take place in-person, online, or a combination of the two if the student resides in the St. Louis area.
Do you offer group sessions?
No. We offer one to one sessions for students to fully benefit from our services.
Can you communicate with my child's teacher?
Yes! We can communicate with a student's teacher (and anyone else involved with your child's education) to know exactly what concepts the student is experiencing difficulty with, and develop an effective plan of action.
What equipment/technology is needed for online sessions?
For the best experience possible, you should have the following:
- headphones or earbuds with a microphone
- computer with a web camera
- broadband internet connection
- dedicated workspace with minimal or no background noise
- comfortable place to sit
What video conferencing software do you use?
We use Google Meet. You do not have to download any software to join a Google Meet meeting. A meeting link will be emailed 24 hours prior to your scheduled tutoring session.
What is your attendance/cancellation policy?
Sessions may be scheduled as often as needed. No minimum number is required. All sessions are for the exact time scheduled. Students who arrive late will not be able to make up the missed time. If you need to cancel a session, you must do so at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled session and you may reschedule it at your earliest convenience. For missed sessions or late cancellations, the regular rate still applies.
Do I have to sign a contract?
How do I pay for tutoring sessions?
Credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express). Credit card processing is done via Square.
An invoice will be sent via email 24 hours prior to a scheduled session, and payment is due before that lesson
